Having exhausted all internal opportunities, our client approached us to help them explore new creative problem solving techniques.
Once we’d spent some time understanding our client’s issues and needs, we suggested the novel approach of biomimetics and how they could put the process into practice.
Biomimetics is the exploration of nature for good ideas that can be applied to business and creative processes.
As we had already done a great deal of fact-finding in this area, we were convinced that biomimetics could help them solve this problem and be applied to other issues.
Stage 1: A proof-of-concept study that explored new biomimetic-inspired secondary packaging, with a short case study to:
• reduce the weight by 50%
• improve the sealing and ease of opening.
Stage 2: A tailored knowledge-building workshop with our client’s product and packaging development team.
The client acquired new, in-depth knowledge demonstrating how the process can be applied to significantly reduce the weight of packaging.
A creative case study and educational workshop were used to successfully convey the power of this process: a new way of thinking and creative problem solving that could be applied to many issues.
